Scanning

Descreen OFF

Descreen OFF

360 DPI
Fabric Swatch scanned at 360 DPI

Skirt DDS scanned at 360 DPI in black and white scale

1. How to scan – This is gathered in class while using the scanner

2. Discuss what the Descreen selection does and why it is important (include the images scanned in exercise 1).

The descreen selection minimises the moire effect and produces a clearer and more crisp image.

3. Explain what resolutions are best for web, print and presentations for fashion (include the 3 different resolution images scanned)

For web. a dpi of 150 is enough

4. Include your scan from your illustration class and fabric scan with specifications (what resolution it was scanned at, colour mode, etc)

The Importance of Layers

Layers are important as they allow:
  • A detailed composition
  • Editing of text, etc without affecting the original image or other parts of the work in progress
  • More control over the multiple images
  • The original image to be preserved
  • Specific selections to be made, such as the arms or legs
  • Changed to the opacity on selected areas
  • Blending of multiple images or selections.
